I've had a blast playing the Wolverine PS5 game. A lot of negative reviews piled on before the release. I don't share their opinion, although I can see if they expected a truly open world game, they would be disappointed. Someone said that Wolverine is like a PS2 style game, which I don't see as anything wrong, it's a plus. I never played the PS2 X-Men Origins Wolverine, but this new game might be a spiritual successor. I think the story in Wolverine is very good, it doesn't have any X-Men other than Jean Grey (although there are some easter egg references), and takes place in a seperate timeline. I am almost done playing the game, and there's no reference yet to the Weapon X program. Nathaniel Essex, Mr Sinister, takes the place of Xavier in this story, and later things go wrong as you might imagine.
Here are some screenshots from the later stages of the Wolverine PS5 game. There are lots of Sentinels to battle in the final 1/4 of the game. And there a very brutal fight with Sabretooth. The game doesn't shy away from violence or using Wolverine's healing ability to the fullest extent. To counter balance that, the romance between Logan and Jean is a big part of the story. No pesky Cyclops to get in Logan's way in this game.
